Washington, D.C. - Travel Management Coalition (TMC) leaders praised the Biden administration’s decision to lift the COVID-19 testing requirement for travelers flying to the United States.

“This is another clear sign that the world is open for business travel and tourists alike, with international travel between most countries being free of restrictions, safe, and easy” said Peter Vlitas of Internova. “The news is welcome, but also a long time coming. I’m glad the Administration recognized that the data and science show the testing requirement is no longer needed.”

Direct Travel’s John Coffman added that “moving forward, the Administration should establish clear benchmarks should it ever consider re-imposing a burdensome requirement on Americans who wish to travel overseas.”

Travel leaders did praise the announcement this week from the Department of Commerce launching the Commerce National Travel and Tourism strategy. “We are encouraged that Secretary Raimondo is focusing on how we can rebuild our tourism industry post-pandemic and look forward to working with the Administration on ways to reduce barriers to travel,” said Coffman.
